After recently watching the film Harry Potter, I decided to create the main star as a minimalist illustration. Using basic facial features that he’s well known for such as his messy hair, glasses and scar, it’s clear to see who the character is.
Paddington
The main inspiration for my work is films I have recently watched or TV shows.
At work one day I saw the Paddington film poster. It was very basic and only contained his head and red hat at the bottom of the page. I realised that Paddington was well known for his red hat and blue coat so I created a minimalist illustration that contained only the two items.

After recently watching the film Big Hero 6, I decided to create the character Baymax using the minimalism technique. The illustration only consists of his eyes and mouth, which are two circles and a line. Even though the illustration is basic, it can still be seen who the character is.

I have a particular interest in minimalism, so using this technique I created The Joker from The Dark Knight in basic form. I then added one of his quotes.
